There is a story about a successful shoe salesman in LA. He owned multiple successful women’s shoe stores.
One day, a journalist asked him the reason for his success.
He replied with just two words:
“Two, not three.”
When asked to elaborate, he explained.
Every time a customer comes in, he brings her one pair of shoes.
She looks around the store and points to another pair that catches her eye.
He brings her that pair as well.
She looks again.
Then she points to a third pair she likes.
At that point, the salesman doesn’t bring the third pair.
Instead, he asks:
“Which of these two would you like me to take away first?”
Once she decides which one she can part with,
he removes it, and only then brings the new pair.
Made me think - Are we wasting alot of time because of the vast choices we have in life. Some that we created ourselves and some that we have no control of. How can we use this pricinple to simply our life? Starting with our wardrobe.
I once had a boss from Bahrain. He would wear the traditional Kandura for work everyday. He once told me that when he wakes up in the morning, he can get dressed with his eyes closed and look perfect !
